The area was very dodgy and i didnt feel that safe. It was also very hot in the room with no a/c but we couldn't open the window because of the noise all day and night
The hotel looks pretty poor, and it is actually but at least it is clean, especially for what concerns the bathrooms. You don't get much space in the room, especially the double room bed would never fit two normal adults. Strange guys hang around both inside the hotel and outside, they seem to live there, but they're not annoying at all. Just freakish. Breakfast is pretty small and you don't have a place to eat it except your room; the coffee is ok, the pastry could be better! You just get one a day, anyway, not anything more.
Staff were friendly, hotel very close to market street
comfortable and room maid and room boys so nice.
The staff not cleaning the room. There are not the things for convince.
The location was convenient for reaching public transportation (BART) and lots of downtown spots.
The streets immediately surrounding the hostel are filled with homeless people.
really cheap. centrally located
Location, full of bad people in the neighbourhoud. Also the tv is not working correctly, only two channels and no HBO.
I had very friendly and helpful service from all of the staff during my stay, was most impressed by the owner who is always visible and hands on in the running of his Hotel/Hostel, the hotel is well managed and I found it to be neat, tidy, clean and well kept
I was woken up a few times by new arriving guests who had not managed to figure out how to open the double locks of the bedroom doors, this was a constant problem and annoyance during my stay. the blinds in the bedrooms can be of a better quality as they are see through and rather flimsy, The bathrooms should be kept clean through out the day and not only cleaned once a day (as I think they are) as there is a high volume of people using them all the time. The carpet in my room could do with a shampoo clean. A suggestion is to also maybe have a separate shoe mat placed next to door inside the bedrooms for shoes, as there is a lot of dirt and grime being walked off the streets into the Hotel, I travel a lot so I get to see these small details .
Hotel is central, good place to visit the city
internet connection is very bad I stay 4 night and the room was never clean...long hair in the fitted carpet The dustbin room never cleaned .....
Ideal location str.near 6th and Market str. 2 blocks from Folsom str. Great breakfast buffet
The common bathrooms can be an annoyance with n (noisy doors closing and opening) and/or if you have to wait for one shower available when everyone gets ups or gets really to go out for dinner. Many homeless people around but that`s everywhere in this neighborhood Civic Center and Tenderloin.
The staff was very friendly and helpful
The room was very noisy, as it was on the street side. The room had a strange smell. One shower for each floor is not enough and the shower was dirty. The neighbourhood is bad, a lot of homeless and strange people especially at night.
The Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The facilities were well kept and comfortable. I had stayed in 3 other hotels the week that I was in San FRan and found the Pontiac to meet all my needs. I have already recommended it to friends back home. Front desk employees were awesome. Thanks Pontiac for saving my trip and thanks for the free breakfasts! Glenn May
The hotel was great the street people were annoying. Big City woes I guess?
I liked very much the availability and politeness of the staff and the position.
The hotel/hostel is really too expensive for the services it offers, despite this is a problem all over san francisco. Thank you.
The staff were really helpful and friendly and quite knowledgeable of the area. The location and price were quite fair, only a 10 minute walk to Union Square.
The room I stayed in must have been up beside the elevator shaft because most of the night and early in the morning it would constantly hum and vibrate loudly making it nearly impossible to sleep so try to ask for a room away from the elevators. The sheets had hold holes in them which looked like cigarette holes - they should be replaced.
Inexpensive hotel, good location, friendly staff. Recently, my wife and I (60 y) spend almost at week at Pointiac Hotel/hostel. Our stay was pretty good. The location is central with respect to Bart, bus, all tourist attractions, and shopping centers. Free Wi-Fi. Free and good breakfast. The hotel was very clean. The shared bathrooms and showers were also clean. As Norwegians, we felt particularly welcome because the hotel owner is Norwegian-American. We had many pleasant breakfasts together with him. We highly recommend this hotel.
The neighborhood is home to some homeless people and drug addicts, but they were not of inconvenience.
Friendly helpfull staff, well cleaned and nice breakfast.Elevator to all floors which is not to be found everywhere in SF .
Only one shower room per floor, had to que to shower. Terrible area, very dangerous, the Hotel is on 2nd block 6th street , the night I arrived there was a fatal shooting on 1st block 6th street about 80m from Hotel. 6th Street is the most dangerous area in SF and not safe to walk daytime or night time. Less then 10m from Hotel you will find all types of low life, very threatening for me a hardend middle aged man, for a young lady/man or family this is a no no !
